Winery
Geographical location
The winery is located approximately 65km south of Adelaide, in a key central location on Victor Harbour Road, and 25km south of the center of the Mclaren Valley wine region. The excellent location contributes to the high commercial value of this winery. From the Adelaide city center, the winery can be reached by car in just 55 minutes.
Soil structure
There are two main soil types. One is the subsoil of limestone and the topsoil bearing sandy or slightly clay loam; the other is the soil type in which the subsoil is limestone, but the topsoil is light gravel stones with some larger particles.
Grape characteristics
The wines are aromatic, generally bright and fruity, and full of energy. Cabernet Sauvignon has flavors of crushed leaves and red berries’Merlots are rounder and fuller; Shiraz and Chardonnay wines are vibrant; Pinot Noir grapes are not grown in large quantities, but the wine produced is a rare high-quality Pinot Noir in Australia. We have recently planted another 5000 pinot vines as this is what grows best around the Southern Fleurieu.
Winery distribution
The winery has a production room of 180 square meters, a fully enclosed steel storage room of 432 square meters, an equipment room of 144 square meters, and a pastoral-style pure wine cellar door transformed from a milking shed. This area is for office, wine tasting, reception, and restaurant. There are a variety of integrated areas such as outdoor eating and viewing areas where the magical scenery can be joy while eating and drinking while the children can play on the grassed areas safely and happily. The winery can provide guests with high-quality accommodation, with a three-bedroom cottage, with its own exclusive garden. The cottage is located at the highest point of the vineyard an excellent location and surrounded by water on many sides. Panoramic views are offered of the Southern Ocean, Murray Estuary, lake Alexander, and more. Passing the cottage visitors will follow the 300-meter drive along the Agapan-thas flanked lane, through the 70-year-old pine tree avenue, to the wine cellar.
Winery meaning
Mt Jagged means to us means good luck, the house street number is the auspicious number 3191. The whole winery faces the sun, the terrain is high in the periphery and low in the middle, and the whole winery is in the shape of a basin where precious rainwater can gather into our dam and small lake.
