-WINE STORY-

The founder’s granddaughter had often overheard her grandfather wishing for more water. He wished that this pond would one day become a lake. One cold winters’ morn as she and her grandfather walked down to watch the ducks swim the pond, the little girl remarked;
“If you want to make a wish come true grandpa throw a coin into the water then return home and make that wish again. You must wish hard for a wish to come true.”
Grandad passed a coin to her: Here you go, toss this coin into the pond and make a wish for me. She resolutely tossed the coin into the pond and made a silent solemn wish. A wish laden with hope and full of dreams. Her wish did not come true overnight. However, the following autumnrains fell in the Southern Fleurieu like never seen before. The localdams filled, and the pond became a small lake, and a lake became aWishing Well.
When you find yourself in the Southern Fleurieu please come to visitus at Mt Jagged wines. Here our Wishing Well Lake is never empty andsame goes for our Cellar Door.
Come and toss a coin in the Wishing Well see if your dreams can cometrue.

MT JAGGED 2022 Wishing Well

Pinot Noir

MT JAGGED’s 2022 Wishing Well Pinot Noir is a cool-climate, site-true Pinot shaped by Southern Ocean breezes and a long, even vintage: translucent ruby in the glass, it lifts with wild strawberry, red cherry and cranberry, then unfurls rose petal, orange zest, dried thyme and a gentle cinnamon/tea-leaf savouriness from seasoned French oak that sits firmly in the background; the palate is silky and medium-light, gliding on fine, powdery tannins and bright natural acidity with a faint chalky/sea-spray snap that carries a long, refreshing finish. Hand-picked fruit, gentle destemming with a touch of whole berries, a cool stainless ferment and older-barrel maturation (~10–12 months) keep perfume and purity front and centre, with minimal fining to preserve texture. The name honours the small stone wishing well on the hill where vineyard hands would toss a coin each season—wishing for gentle rain and slow ripening—an old ritual echoed in the wine’s balance and poise. Serve lightly chilled (14–16 °C) in large Pinot stems; pair with five-spice duck, herb-roast chicken, mushroom risotto or truffle pecorino; enjoy now for red-berry vibrancy or cellar 3–5 years for more savoury complexity. The still-life image of three bottles with grapes, wooden gift box and glass communicates the wine’s quiet luxury and hand-crafted intent, while the label close-up mirrors its character—delicate detail, perfume and poise—inviting that first, graceful sip.
